This ends up forcing me to kill off all but two or three nations, and I really see potential in the diplomatic pacifist path. It is understandable that it is a way to make the game interesting and harder, but it becomes frustrating, especially when diplomacy has a pacifist option where you must befriend all of the living nations. One problem though, the other bot nations are almost never compliant and only respond positively to friendship offers, and even then being friends with more than two nations is very difficult. I love this game so much and I find it to be an amazing way to unwind but stay mentally active.

Thanks to many different map designs, enemy combinations and starting positions, Antiyoy wil keep you interestes for quite some time.Īdmittedly, the graphics are rather utilitarian, as is often the case with open source projects, but the austere style actually fits well with the straightforward gameplay.Īnyone curious in trying Antiyoy can download the game in both the Google Play Store and App Store for free.Amazing game! But diplomacy can be very frustrating 😡 A suprisingly challenging situation in Antiyoy: a forest out of controlĭespite the number of rules and mechanics being pretty small, the game won’t wear out too quickly.

Due to forests growing at an impressive speed, the player might need to assign some of his troops to fight against nature. You will not earn any money from fields that have trees growing on them, since that area has been lost to the wilderness for the moment. Maybe a little peculiar in times of climate change: one of the goals of the player is to prevent any forests from growing on their territory. During the game, you need to decide which direction to expand in, when to spend money for guard towers and knights and react to opponents trying to snag away your territories. Any field belonging to you will generate income which can be invested into further units or buildings. In Antiyoy, you need to drive out all other players from the map by conquering fields. The game’s mechanics are very minimalistic and really lend themselves for a quick match on your way to the office.

And in this case, it actually is free to play: since the game is being developed as an open source project, it completely abstains from any features where you can buy yourself advantages in the game for real money. It gets even more difficult if you are rather skeptical of free-to-play mechanics and in-game shops.Ī positive example would be Antiyoy, a pleasantly uncomplicated turn-based strategy game for smartphones.

Unfortunately, it can be tricky to find interesting games in that genre for mobile devices, for the times you want to lead your virtual army into battle while taking the bus or the subway. Do you, as a gamer, feel right at home with the strategy genre? If you enjoy tinkering with base building, managing units and testing different tactics, then you might want to indulge your inner general while you’re on the go, as well.
